Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems

The Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services supports states in building early childhood systems that support families and communities in their development of children that are healthy and ready to learn at school entry.  It targets five critical components: access to comprehensive health services and medical homes; social-emotional development and mental health of young children; early care and education; parenting education; and family support. Ohio's ECCS grant has supported various system-building activities, such as facilitation of the Part C/Early Intervention Workgroup, the development of Guiding Young Children's Behavior through Supporting Social and Emotional Development, a resource for early childhood professionals, and work of the Early Childhood Cabinet.

Step Up To Quality Review

As a result of the Early Childhood Finance Workgroup recommendations (see finance document here), a cross section of persons involved in early childhood development will be reviewing Ohio’s quality rating system.  Part of the review process includes understanding and perhaps learning what is happening in other states with their quality rating systems.

Click here to learn more about what states have a quality rating system and how they are set up.
